Here are some things happening in and near Harrisonburg sometime soon…

Show at Captain Tees tonight, July 17 at 7:00 featuring Worn In Red, The Riot Before, The Kennedy Omen, American Tourist, & Albuquerque

More basement rock on Wednesday July 19, when Toru Okada (from Austin), Architects, and Dialogues play at The Club: Sandwich on Old South High.

Toy Story II is playing for free at Grafton-Stoval Theater on campus at 7:30. July 19 – 21.

Free Nonesuch show on Court Square Friday, July 21 at 7pm… Nonesuch needs to put something on the Internet so people know what they sound like.

The folks at The Little Grill Collective are having their Summer Lawn Jam at Our Community Place (across the street from the restaurant) Saturday, July 22 all day long. Admission is free, donations go toward renovations in the OCP building. Volunteers call 433-7738

Fundfest across from the DNR featuring Fat Ammons Wednesday, July 26 to benefit the SPCA… OR you could check out the wine tasting and tapas (multiple appetizers) at L’Italia for $30.

The Court Square Theater is showing The Princess Bride for free Friday, July 28 at 10:30 in the morning. Then they’re showing Mongolian Ping Pong Friday through Sunday, the 30th

Our Community Place is hosting the Shenandoah Bike Festival Saturday, July 29. Proceeds go to help OCP and the free soup kitchen. Plus, you could probably use the excercise.

There will be no open mic at The Little Grill next week, as they will be closed for spring, er summer cleaning. For more updated information on “underground rock” shows in Harrisonburg, check the worthless forum.

Outside Rockingham Co: In connection with the local premiere of A Scanner Darkly at the Visulite in Staunton on July 28… actors from the American Shakespeare Center will be performing selected scenes from Philip K. Dick’s novel at the Baja Bean in Staunton on Sunday, July 23rd at 10:30.
