H’burg Happenings – Late September

Brent Finnegan -- September 18th, 2006

Residents have moved into the lofts at City Exchange. The old Cassco Ice and Sancar buildings are being converted into residental apartments and condos as well, although it doesn’t sound like they’ll be as nice or as expensive as City Exchange.

If you like disc golf, check out this map local blogger, Benjamin, made of the disk golf course at Westover.

Seymour Chwast show at the Sawhill Gallery through Sept 30.

Mary Gauthier is playing the Little Grill Friday the 22nd at 9pm.

Saturday the 23rd: a fundraiser on Court Square for the Community Caregivers Network. 9:30am – 10pm. Later, Trent Wagler & the Steel Wheels are having a CD release party in the Court Square Theater.

Savor the Valley Fall Wine & Food Festival Sept 23 & 24 at Shenandoah Caverns.

Sept 29 & 30 Spaghettifest 4 at Natural Chimneys in Mt Solon featuring The Pietasters (and a dozen other bands).

You have no excuse to stay home on Sept 30. This is Hell is playing at captain Tees with several other bands. And if hardcore ain’t your bag, there’s Harvest Day at Crossroads (off Garber’s Church Road) and Hot Day at the Zoo (Massachusetts bluegrass) at the Little Grill.

Also on the 30th: Harrisonburg’s 9th annual International Festival at Hillendale Park… Between Spaghettifest and the international fest that makes at least five reasons you shouldn’t stay at home on the 30th.

Regretfully, I won’t be making it for the Trent Wagler concert. I have prior arrangements with an old friend.
