New store Downtown Harrisonburg

David Miller -- November 1st, 2006

For all of those whom were unable to attend the Annual Report presented by Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance and the recent DNR article about new businesses downtown, I am pleased to tell you about the new gourmet convenience market in Downtown.

Midtowne Market will open Dec 1st (pray with me and my business partner Tim Brady for an on-schedule opening).  We will offer gourmet fare such as homemade meals (a company based in Timberville will provide the gourmet southern style meals), organic free-range chicken and beef, and quick pickup takeout (our goal is a 1 minute selection/checkout).  Think 7-11© but great food and selection 21 hours a day!  Look for us soon at 20 West Water Street in Historic Downtown Harrisonburg.

    21 hours a day? That’s great… unless you’re kidding.

Next: convince the city’s public trans dept to run buses downtown at night.

Wouldn’t buses downtown be nice, and no I wasn’t kidding. We will open at 6:30am and close at 3 am maybe a little less/more based upon demand but our goal is to hit last call and first call! This so that if you have to walk home (no bus + booze hopefully equals walking) you can have some redbull or coffee to get there in one piece.

I hope the food is more palatable than the barf that is usually on this blog. If I hear anymore about what WSVA, DNR, TV3, or the Breeze doesn’t have I’m going to puke on my computer. This sure ain’t a full-service site either and by the way, you definately ain’t no New Yawk Times, honey!

To be fair, I do enjoy reading the happenings and such, honey. Just leave that other barf on your own computer. ;)

I’m confused at certain comments, I’d like to counter by saying that if I do not like something, I don’t read, eat, buy or consume it in any way.

Back on subject >>A thank you to everyone for supporting Downtown Harrisonburg with your enthusiasm.

I’m glad to see these posts from you, David. were you the owner of 14 Carrots? I miss that place. I wish I could have eaten enough to keep it in business. there is some great vegetarian food in this town, although vegetarian options seem like an afterthought on most menus. thank God for American Indian, Taste of Thai, and the Little Grill. sorry that I have to leave places off of my thankful list that allow smoking. I have several close friends with asthma who can’t eat with me in those restaurants. let me know of any good vegetarian friendly places I might have missed.

There are two David P Millers in downtown H’burg, which is confusing to everyone. This is David Miller the younger.

The other one owns Dave’s Taverna.

But yeah, ditto the remarks about 14 Carrots.
