politics and protests

A few stories from this weekend…
It’s no surprise that Chaz Evans-Haywood received the Republican nomination for Clerk of Court at a meeting of city and county Republicans this weekend. Elsewhere, Diane Fulk received will likely get the Democratic Party nomination for Clerk.
Senator Obenshain has been on Republitarian, discussing his school choice bill, which died in GA.
This week is the 4th anniversary of the US-led invasion of Iraq. As thousands of protesters assembled in DC to protest the war, local war supporters were being quoted in the DNR, saying they don’t understand why people protest. If there was any coverage of anti-war activities in the local media, I didn’t see or hear it only because I missed this one. In fact, the only local mention I could find of anything anti-war related was in Also check out this blog, which follows a small group of people driving from EMU to DC. There was a pro-war rally in Staunton this past weekend, but none (pro or anti) that I know of and a peace vigil scheduled between 5 & 7:30 on Court Square this evening. Anyone going?

DNR reports, “A peace vigil on Court Square in Harrisonburg today [Monday] will mark the fourth anniversary of the war with a call for peace from 5 to 7:30 p.m.”
Red alert, Finnegan. Diane’s the only announced Dem so far, but the nominating caucus hasn’t been held yet. That’s not to say I don’t like her chances.
My bad.
Must have a case of the Mondays.
Going to the vigil
