a few more features

Brent Finnegan -- March 24th, 2007

A quick follow up to the community blogs post and the one Josh posted earlier this month:

As you can see, newest comments and Flickr badge features have been added. This means it’s up to you (readers, commenters, contributors) to get on Flickr, click “join this group,” and add your pics of Harrisonburg to the hburgnews pool using the “send to group” button above each of your pics (H’burg/Rockingham-related pics only, please). If you want your photos to show up on hburgnews, get out there and start clicking!

hmm. I am still learning how flickr works.

If you go to the group (not the slash pool) and click join this group, and add your pics using the send to group button, that should work.
    Josh? Is this correct?

It doesn’t work via tags, I don’t think.

If you go to the group (not the /pool, but the actual group) there’s a link that says “join this group.” Click that and you’ll be a member. Once you’ve joined, you can add your pics using the “send to group button” above each of your individual pics (one of the many options floating above your pic in view mode).

When you’re logged in, and you click on one of your pics (so that you’re only seeing that one photo) you should see a list of options above that pic. Pull down the option that says “send to group.” Click hburgnews.

If you follow these directions and you still don’t see it, then something’s wrong with your account settings.

Frank, in case you were wondering, I’m currently trying to figure out why the Flickr badge skipped over your submissions. The feed is generally about an hour behind, but it shouldn’t skip over anything. You may want to double-check your settings and make sure everything is set for public view.

Anyone with more Flickr/RSS knowledge than me, please enlighten me. Why would the badge skip certain submissions?

They ARE public, so …whatever…I’m used to stuff not working right.

Thanks for the help though !

Frank and April, I still don’t know what’s causing this, but the Flickr badge ignores any hburg pool pics that are not visible when you’re logged out. Go to the pool and make sure you’re logged in. Look at the pool. Your pics are there.

Now log out, and then look at the pool again. Your pics have disappeared.

    Must be a setting somewhere.
