invitiation to Minutemen forum

Brent Finnegan -- March 28th, 2007

RockDem posted a letter from Sam Nickels of New Bridges today, inviting citizens of H’burg to attend the meeting at the Ramada Inn Friday at 7, adding the caveat that the Minutemen will be checking names and IDs at the door.

According to his letter, Sam Nickels and Rick Castaneda have been guaranteed equal time. There will be a Q&A time after speakers each present for 10 minutes.

Gxeremio posted about this last week, as info was developing.

Does anyone know precisely what the tin soldiers, or whatever they call themselves, are looking for in checking IDs?

I was at the MinuteMen meeting. Yes, as David Troyer pointed out, the meeting did turn into a “shooting parlor” of sorts. Although i DO believe the “orther viewpoint” has their voice as well, i dont see a need for inviting UNlikeminded people to a metting to have them argue. MinuteMen were here specifically about the subject of stopping illegal immigration however the meeting took many off topic twists which proved to be unhelpful to anyone in the Harrisonburg community. I would urge against any type of joint meeting in the future. Like i said before, yes those who oppose the MinuteMen and their views have their voice as well but a joint meeting only henders those who agree with their views from learning how to combat the problem. I thought it was EXTREMELY disrespectful that a teacher of sorts BRIBED his students with extra credit points to attend this meeting. Most of the students who did join did not contribute anything either for or against the cause. They instead text messaged on their phones, formed groups of chatter disrupting the meeting, and snickered at those they didnt agree with. Come on students, YOU are our future!!!! Please to not let anyone make your decisions for you, including your teacher OR the MintueMen. Their is limitless information available at your disposal. Reseach it, question it, and form your OWN opinion on the matter. Good Luck America
