A follow-up to Thanh’s Clean Up Day post: (via WSVA) an AP story today reports that voluntary service is down two percent in the US. This is according to a new report by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Two events in Harrisonburg this past weekend appear to go against that trend.

With so much discussion (and in many cases, outrage) over state taxes in the Virginia blogosphere, it seems odd that there hasn’t been much talk recently about local taxes. In fact, yesterday the DNR ran a story under the headline “Public Quiet on Proposed Budget.”
