Bloggers4Chaz

Posted by Brent Finnegan on June 1st, 2007

In the last two days, at least four conservative blogs have come out with endorsements for Chaz Evans-Haywood for Harrisonburg Rockingham County Clerk of Court. Or, should I say, Jim at Virginia Virtucon cast his vote of confidence for Chaz, and that endorsement bounced around the echo chamber. Even Chaz “opponent” Myron “republitarian” Rhodes seems to be endorsing Chaz.

Although Myron may be the only “blogger4chaz” actually voting in this election, I sorta doubt he’ll actually cast his vote for Chaz (and yes, I write “bloggers4chaz” with tongue in cheek).

  1. Boy, go out to lunch for my wife’s birthday and all sorts of things happen. As far as my qualifications, if someone can tell me how to scan my info and get it to post here I will be happy to do it. Or if you want call my cell phone 820-1474 or if you want me to mail it to you email me your address at(nealbnealx5@aol.com) and I will send you a copy. Thanks for asking. You can also look on DN-R online and see the ad if you have thrown away your paper. Look at 5/29/07 on page C6. I’ll be happy to campaign anywhere and everywhere I can – I thought that you really didn’t want us to do that on the blog.

  2. Whackette, you got it all wrong! You think you know who’s who on here and you don’t have a clue my friend. Stop trying to second guess yourself. I have no idea who you are or anyone else for that matter and I don’t really don’t care! I just love sitting back and watch everyone make a fool out of themselves on here. What a great way to spend a rainy day!

  3. whackette says:

I do have a clue. Several, in fact. Not enough to prove anything, but enough to cause suspicion.

  4. The 2 links I just posted will take you to my information.
    Again, thanks for asking.

  5. Well, once you figure out your clue, let me know. Then you can apologize for being soooo wrong. This is hilarious!

  6. whackette says:

I am not wrong that there are several similarities between the two of you. I haven’t said more than that. And you’re right; this IS hilarious.

  7. finnegan says:

    This is getting ridiculous.

“You say you can see my IP address and you think I am Benny. You might want to check it again.”

I never said you were. I’ve never outed someone’s identity on this blog.

“This entire blog brings back memories of childish high school guessing games. We’re all grown adults, get a grip with yourself!”

I’d like to remind you that you are currently taking part in these childish games, and posting under a made-up name, so I’m not really sure why you’re accusing others of being childish.

Benny, no one can read those documents. They’re way too small.

  8. Barnabas says:

Wow. If I were running for any position that required for a public vote I don’t think I would be telling everyone to go find out for themselves what qualifies me. If I had to many qualifications to list quickly I would give a couple bullet points highlighting my awesomeness. I would also ignore Dave Briggman because if people saw me talking to a brick wall they would think I’m crazy.

  9. Finnegan, sorry, I’ll try again

  10. I’ll give you the highlights:
I have 21 years of the following experience
    Supervision of multiple employees
Following State and local codes and regulations
    Communicate effectively with the public
    Research and development
    A friendly and outgoing personality
Maintaining records in audit ready condition
    Conflict resolution/mediation
    Public speaking
    Extremely organized and neat

    VISION
If elected I would diligently work to seek positive and effective ways to up-date technology and public accessibility while focusing on providing competent, friendly service to the public. Records will be kept in “audit ready” condition to maintain the integrity of the office. All working within the budget.

    MISSION
It’s about people – not politics (slogan)
I will work hard for all the citizens of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. It will be my duty, and I take that very seriously. A political agenda would affect the competency and integrity of the office – I plan on being a policy keeper, not a policy maker.

Throughtout my 21 years in the Valley I have had the pleasure of meeting and working for many people. I enjoy people and they seem to enjoy me. I always work hard for them and they respect that. I would be honored to be given the opportunity to serve the public in a new capacity.

Last but not least – I have a strong desire to be a leader which I believe this position requires.

This is a snapshot of what I was trying to scan unsuccessfully.

  11. writergirl says:

I think I’m going to run for Clerk.

    I’m neat.
    I’m friendly.
I know where the courthouse is.

  12. whackette says:

I’ll sign your petition, but I’m afraid my vote is going elsewhere. :)

  13. You wanted to know about me, how about inviting the
other candidates to do the same thing?

  14. writergirl says:

Thanks! I figured your vote might be a little bias.

  15. I’m right behind you Emmy!!!!

  16. Oh, Barnabas, you doth hurt me heartily — not.

Why don’t you think up something original and actually tell everyone why I should be ignored?

Benny, you barely know anything about how a web browser works…specifically, what might you do to technologically improve the Clerk’s Office?

  17. Well Dave,
The first hurdle is the budget. You can promise the moon but,
it has to fit in the budget….Are you still planning on running
    for B.O.S.?

  18. You mean you don’t know/haven’t read the budget for the Clerk’s Office? Aisde from the registration of DBAs, you have no idea of the function of that office.

I haven’t yet decided…the fire is not in my stomach as it was four years ago, and, I’d lose our family summer vacations.

  19. C’mon Dave ,you suggested a system that they’ve had since
1992. I’m not trying to get into a contest with you. I know quite a bit about the Clerk’s functions and I know about the Clerks budget, in fact I was at the budget meeting (where you saw me) and I corrected a request on the budget pertaining to postage. I am simply stating that you have to work within the budget allotted.

  20. I’ve suggested a system that had since 1992?

The Supreme Court of Virginia’s system has remained largely unchanged since it’s deployment. It specifically lacks most of the capabilities of Prince William County’s system (referenced here: http://republitarian.com/?p=243 ), to include Electronic Case Filing as well as document imaging, live data exchange with City/County law enforcement, etc.

Why don’t you tell us all the capabilities of the 1992 system?

  21. Better yet, let’s have Myron tell us? He is the one who had the press conference on it, not you.

  22. No Benny, I want to prove to everyone reading this blog you have absolutely no idea of the capabilities of the Supreme Court’s 1992 CMS.

    Tell us what is does.

  23. Dave, I have answered your questions even though once you have an answer the topic changes. I will never satisfy you. I have shared my vision and mission statements and my qualifications as requested. If you feel you have to prove something, I think you already have, there is no answer good enough for you when it comes to me. I hope that other readers have gained some insite into my campaign – they now know how to reach me if they would like to get to know me better (820-1474/nealbnealx5@aol.com). Have a good night.

  24. Gxeremio says:

I can’t seem to find the “close further comments” button on this thing…

  25. finnegan says:

Believe me, I’d love to, Gxeremio. These comments are getting asinine. But I think it might set a bad precedent for future posts. Maybe I should just try not to post about local politics for a week… unfortunately, that probably won’t happen.

And seriously, Benny, I’m not listed in the phone book for good reason. Calling my parents is ridiculous. If you want to communicate with me, use the gmail address listed in the contact info page, like everyone else. The reason your comments weren’t showing up is because you were trying to post images. You can only post direct “http” links to URLs. Otherwise, Akismet automatically kills those comments.

  26. Finnegan,
Sorry, When I called I did not know it was your parents home. I don’t know your first name. Why didn’t you simply
    return my call?

  27. Del Marvel says:

Benny, what you need is a good web site. Maybe it’s some problem on my end, but clicking on your name just sends me to aol.com. Also, if foryourinformation is not your sockpuppet, you should try and get in contact with them and tell them to quit posting on your behalf because, as has been pointed out, it unfortunately seems a lot like that.

  28. finnegan says:

Anyone can make their own blog at blogger, typepad or wordpress for free.

  29. Del,
Sorry about that, you can try it now, it might work…and as
God is my witness, I’am not foryourinformation. P.S. Why
would I want my own blog? I like this one.

  30. Del,
When I click on your name nothing happens. My e-mail is
    nealbnealx5@aol.com

  31. Del Marvel says:

“Del, When I click on your name nothing happens.”

But I ain’t running for public office:) I just thought it might be a good idea for you if that link went to an easy to read website with your campaign info and a nice picture like what Chaz has.

  32. let’s see if this will work

  33. whackette says:

Benny, the email field isn’t published. The only way you can click on a person’s name and get anything is if you fill out the “website” field.

For example, if you click on my name you will be taken to my blog. Click on Christa’s name and you go to her business website. Click on your name and you go to http://www.aol.com.

Del doesn’t fill out this field so of course you can’t click on his name and go anywhere.

  34. JGFitzgerald says:

Two questions, one rhetorical, one not so much:

One: Are there really more than eighty posts on this thread?

Two: What is this thread about?

    That is all.

  35. finnegan says:

    One: not really

Two: this thread is about hot air

  36. whackette says:

See, now if you click on my name it will take you to a site like you should have. I will gladly give you the sign in information and tell you how to change the passwords so you can run it yourself and put your campaign information up on it.

    :)

  37. whackette says:

Oops mixed up the i and a. now it should work

  38. From what I hear this is the unofficial money raised/loaned for the “Clerk of court” campign which should

  39. David says:

Just FYI, I am not the Dave Miller of Dave’s Taverna. Just a common name amongst DTB owners.
