Hburgnews blog party!

posted by Emmy

I’m going to call it a party so that we all remember that this is supposed to be a fun evening of getting to know each other and respectful discussion.

When: Tuesday June, 12th 5:30 pm until about 8:00 pm

Where: Dave’s Taverna rooftop (weather permitting). If its raining we’ll be inside.

Please let us know if you are coming so that we can call ahead. Hope to see you there!

OK, you know I’m coming but I don’t drink so that will save you one :)

Comment from writergirl
Time: June 6, 2007, 7:41 pm

I have no idea what is up with the spacing there. I tried to fix it but its being difficult.

Comment from finnegan
Time: June 6, 2007, 7:42 pm

fixed.

I’m 99 percent sure I’ll be there.

Comment from Thanh
Time: June 6, 2007, 7:43 pm

I’m in. :)

Comment from Christa Gitchell
Time: June 6, 2007, 7:43 pm

I’ll buy you a soda little friend :)

Comment from Christa Gitchell
Time: June 6, 2007, 7:46 pm

Remind me to call Dave’s, Emmy. Hoping they will reserve some space for us. Maybe I can talk him into giving me a break on some food for everyone.

Comment from writergirl
Time: June 6, 2007, 7:58 pm

Thanks Finnegan, I’m bad at posting on here. I have a post written up, but I can’t tell if its going to link to the rest of it, or post the whole thing on one page so I haven’t put it up yet.

Comment from whackette
Time: June 6, 2007, 8:02 pm

I should be there, but I don’t drink either.

Comment from Dave Briggman
Time: June 6, 2007, 9:33 pm

I prefer Pepsi, on ice, neither shaken or stirred. I’ll be there!

Comment from Playgirl Politician
Time: June 6, 2007, 9:55 pm

We went to Dave’s for dinner tonight. FYI when you are on the roof the adult beverages (beers) only come in 24oz. but the cost is only 2.50…You might want to bring a jacket or a sweater because it is a little breezy up there. They said they don’t take reservations but, if someone is there around 5:30 they could keep an area open for us. See you there.

Comment from Christa Gitchell
Time: June 6, 2007, 10:16 pm

Thanks for checking on that Benny. Ok…I’m feeling pretty bad that I’m going to have my once a month beer here. 24 oz might be a little too much for me…I might have to stick to Pepsi too! ( Light weight)

Comment from David Troyer
Time: June 6, 2007, 10:33 pm

I will be there if I can get off work!

I was just there today for lunch with my boss. I have to say, the service was terrible :-/

Comment from Playgirl Politician
Time: June 6, 2007, 10:41 pm

David Troyer,
I’m sure we will get good service Tuesday night or we will throw them over the top…Just kidding, we have always
had decent service.

Comment from Playgirl Politician
Time: June 7, 2007, 7:23 am

Christa,
Are you going to bring a camera for the party? A group picture would be nice…Hey! you could take a picture of Dave
and me” nose to nose “like two boxers getting ready for the
championship fight, and put it on one of the blogs, that would get the town talking.

Comment from Christa Gitchell
Time: June 7, 2007, 8:08 am

I was planning to bring my camera, yes. It’s pretty much a permanent appendage on my body anymore. I hope we get more RSVP’s. Want people to know that even though you don’t comment on here…you can still come! Just show up!!

Comment from Lowell Fulk
Time: June 7, 2007, 8:44 am

Count me in, just not sure what time.

Comment from zen
Time: June 7, 2007, 8:53 am

I’m pretty sure I’ll be there as well.
And I’ll try my best to make up for the non-drinkers.

Comment from Barnabas
Time: June 7, 2007, 8:57 am

Ditto zen,
I haven’t mentioned it to the wife yet but she’s pretty good about letting me come out and play. So as long we are sans baby number 2 I’ll be there.

Comment from andy
Time: June 7, 2007, 9:44 am

I’ll be there, but I doubt Alan can make it. He’s travelling back from a clogging and aromatherapy seminar held in Branson, MO.

Comment from finnegan
Time: June 7, 2007, 9:47 am

Great! My favorite local blogger. Maybe Alan will make it out next time. I’ve heard so much about him.

Comment from writergirl
Time: June 7, 2007, 9:52 am

OK, so far I have the following…

Me
Christa
Dave Briggman
Finnegan
Thanh
Whackette
Playgirl Politician
David Troyer

Comment from MikeFus
Time: June 7, 2007, 11:14 am

Excellent idea, writergirl! I’m planning to be there, but I need to check with my wife before I can commit 100%.

Comment from writergirl
Time: June 7, 2007, 12:06 pm

Oh it was Christa’s idea, but it is a good one! Hope you can make it!

Comment from cook
Time: June 7, 2007, 12:10 pm

I think reaganite and morning bird may stop by but wearing mask and cape to protect their secret identities. “holy blogosphere, reaganite, nobody here drinks liquor! you mean to tell me they’re sober when they post that stuff??!!”

Comment from finnegan
Time: June 7, 2007, 12:17 pm

hahaha! Perhaps we should make it a masquerade ball.

Comment from whackette
Time: June 7, 2007, 12:21 pm

I’ll wear my burka. ;)

Comment from David Miller
Time: June 7, 2007, 12:51 pm

Morning Bird’s identity is far from secret isn’t it John?

Comment from kestrel9000
Time: June 7, 2007, 1:33 pm

Two here, the wife and I.

Comment from Reaganite
Time: June 7, 2007, 1:44 pm

I would estimate the following: Reaganite sober posts - 80%; Cook sober posts - 75%; Morning Bird sober posts - 5% (or less); Dave sober posts - 100% (I fear).

Comment from TM
Time: June 7, 2007, 2:29 pm

I’m going to try to make it. I’m going to see if I can talk another Hburgnews commenter I know to come as well.

Comment from Josh
Time: June 7, 2007, 2:55 pm

Count me in! :-)

I didn’t see any bloggers for Sayre respond?

Comment from Deona Landes Houff
Time: June 7, 2007, 6:59 pm

It’s primary election night, so the Sayre bloggers have other plans. Though I do not often post, I read the blogs everyday, so I will most definitely plan to come meet those of you I don’t already know. No drinking for me. I have to drive back to Staunton.

Comment from zen
Time: June 7, 2007, 11:30 pm

Of course Christa. And that’s fine & great. That was just a shot at Dave’s Koolaid-drinking pal.

Comment from Playgirl Politician

Christa,
Let’s try and give this a name…we could do this annually
or a few times a year. Here is a few I came up with:
The Gitchell Bash
Friend’s Party Night
Four Seasons Party(have one four times a year-spring,summer,fall & winter)
Let’s see what others mifgt come up with.

Comment from Christa Gitchell
Time: June 9, 2007, 9:40 am

It was just an idea….you guys want to take off on it..that’s great. I just thought it would be fun to do it one time.

Comment from Barnabas
Time: June 9, 2007, 2:13 pm

It already has a name, Tuesday. Or we could each name it what we think it is. I’ll call it Daves Roof Invite to Network in a Kasual Invironment Night by Gitchell, or D.R.I.N.K.I.N.G.

Comment from Barnabas

When I’m drinking light it’s New Casle or an Irish Red when I want a good full flavor beer I drink a Guinness. Pilsner is not typically my thing.

Comment from Christa Gitchell
Time: June 10, 2007, 8:30 pm

Guess I just assumed you knew my husband was coming Emmy! I’ll be ticked if he has a ball game! In that case…you’ll just have to be my date! :)

Comment from writergirl
Time: June 10, 2007, 9:01 pm

Sorry, I guess I should have assumed spouses on most of these! But I’ll be your date if he doesn’t come ;)

Comment from Christa Gitchell
Time: June 11, 2007, 11:09 am

Had some pretty depressing news this weekend. One of my tenants that just moved in my apartments is stiffing me and moving out. If anyone knows someone that needs a great 1 bedroom in downtown Harrisonburg…tell them to call me. I’m not sure what possessed me to rent apartments and add one more stress to my life!!

Comment from zen
Time: June 11, 2007, 11:18 am

Cool, I’m coming twice, or there are two zens! :)

Comment from writergirl
Time: June 11, 2007, 11:22 am

Well crap! I spend too much time at a computer! Zen and Barnabas are so special that they are invited twice!

Christa, not to be nosey (and I can come over for you to tell me) but what is the rent? I might know people!

Comment from zen

Stupid question: is anyone bringing a laptop to this thing? Is there wireless access on the roof?

Comment from Christa Gitchell
Time: June 11, 2007, 6:13 pm

I’m just bringing my camera, sorry. Why do you need a laptop?

Comment from Phil Chroniger
Time: June 11, 2007, 6:56 pm

Although it sucks that I’m not going to be there, I do think it’s really awesome that Arin Sime is going to be there. Nice to see a candidate take some time out to meet and mingle with a bunch of bloggers and so forth.

Now I really wish I could be there.

Comment from Phil Chroniger
Time: June 11, 2007, 6:57 pm

Not to mention, I’d meet a bunch of people I talk to on the internet or via blogs all the time.

I think the only person out of that whole list that I’ve met in person is Finnegan, and that was just on Friday.

Comment from whackette
Time: June 11, 2007, 7:32 pm

I hope you have a very good reason. :)

Comment from finnegan
Time: June 12, 2007, 10:19 am

Ha. Sure. Why not.

5:57 - Just ordered a Boddington’s.

6:24 - People laughing about the Sayre mailings

6:48 - Ordered another Boddington’s

7:00 - Intentionally diverted conversation away from politics and onto beer.
