local citizen journalism in Page

Posted by Brent Finnegan on August 27th, 2007

Been too busy to post much lately, but here’s one that might be of interest to hburgnews readers that live/work in Page County:

According to their website, “Page County Watch is an open forum for the citizens of Page County to discuss, research, and learn about issues important to [their] community.” They also have a blog where citizens of Page can track issues at the BoS meetings, independent of the Page News and Courier.

Alice Richmond, who maintains the blog, said the group formed when the Board of Supervisors was about to pass a new ordinance that would prevent building on the river. A lot of the people who lived along the river objected, organized, and eventually defeated the ordinance. Now, the organization and the blog still exist.

If any hburgnews readers would like to attend and take notes at the City Council meetings or the county BoS meetings (essentially cover them for hburgnews) contact me.
