The 10th Annual International Festival started at noon today at Hillendale Park. Today’s weather forecast looks good. I hope to see some fest pics in the Flickr pool…

I didn’t take a single picture (yes I know, big dummy) but we had a wonderful time. This was our first year and I had no idea how huge it was! Spent most of my time talking to the Birth Matters and Friendly City Food Co-Op people. I look forward to going again next year when I can stay longer.

This was our first time also. My son thought he was a little too “old” (12) to do a lot of the children’s things, but he was thrilled to get a free bike helmet fitted by a policeman and he bought a necklace from one of the vendors. We didn’t get any of the food because the lines were too long. It looked really good though!

We also plan on going again next.

What a wonderful event for our community! The organizers (especially Vaunda Brown) deserve the highest praise and thanks. It’s so incredible to see people from other cultures proudly showing off their heritage. The entertainment was superb! The food is always wonderful. And the Peace Pole is a great idea. Way to go, Harrisonburg!

I was only able to make it out for about an hour, but it was still good times. Last year the estimate was 6,500. This thing has definitely grown since I’ve been going to it (within the last four years).

Thanks to Jay Zehr for adding a few pics to the Flickr pool.
