Emmy, Happy New Year to you and yours. May everyones new year be filled with understanding and some compassion. Christa, I’m sorry I didn’t get to stop and chat…what a crazy day…but Thank You for always helping us. Lowell and Diane, I wish you both a pleasant and uneventful new year. Thank you both and the 7G team for helping with the Christmas Soldier project.

Just some FYI, if anyone thinks their donations of cash are not important, here is some good news for you to think about. To mail all 51 packages to Iraq we (Adopt-a-Platoon) spent $595.11 just in postage. Nope, no discounts available, trust me, we tried to find a “cheaper” way to send the stuff.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for all the good you have done for this town that I love, and for helping us stay open for so long already.

Have a Happy New Year and get some rest today, tomorrow comes early.

Thank you Frank and Barb for creating the opportunity.
You are good, good people and this community is fortunate to have you.

Our family wishes all of you good people and dear friends many blessings for the year just begun.

  3. Hey Frank,

Are you guys still taking in old cell phones for military stationed overseas?

  4. Frank J Witt says:

Yes Dave, they (Cell Phones for Soldiers) recycles the parts of the phones, they do not use the phones. For every cell phone we turn in to them, they send a 60 minute calling card overseas. You can drop them off at the restaurant anytime. If we are closed, just hang them on the door or put them in the flower pot near the front door. Thanks for reminding people another way they can help a service person out.

    Peace out!

  5. Emmy is one of the great people I learned to know this year. I come across a lot of people everyday and I can tell you, Emmy, you are one of the best. I feel honored to have had the opportunity to get to know you!
Frank Witt is also one of the true greats. I hope in 2008 that we become better friends! When we have time!
Lowell and Dianne Fulk are also some of the best people I have met this year. I hope I get to spend some time with them also. And Lowell, I have learned many things from you. One of them is that you are not dishonest. I am apologizing to you that I ever felt that you were. We both know what I am speaking of.
Myron Rhodes and Dave Briggman. It’s funny how I got to know them this year, but I am glad I did. Many of you trully do not understand them and sometimes, I don’t either, but I know that Myron and Megan are good kids and great parents. I have enjoyed our long conversations this past year and have learned a great deal from both of them.
Dave is just hugely misunderstood. One on one, he is kind and caring and I have learned to like him a lot. I dare not say anything more about how nice he really is….he wouldn’t want me to ruin the hard a** image he has tried to portray.
Benny and Becky Neal. I love you guys!
So, I have been blessed with new friends also this year. These are only a few that come to mind. I wish everyone a prosperous and wonderous 2008.

Happy New Year to all! I also wanted to thank Brent and all of the regular posters and commenters for the time and energy that have been poured into this being a successful and interesting blog. Brent, I can see a great ripple effect of what you have done in sticking with this blog and making it a quality venture. The good that has come of it is probably more than you will ever see, but just think about what comes of the flow of ideas, communication of events, and sugggestions for and responses to areas that need improving in our community and I think you will see that you’ve provided a platform for much of that with great results. So, thank you! I’m proud to call you a friend.

    Thanks for the kind words.

I’ll echo the sentiments in the comments here — it’s pretty cool that hburgnews has played a role in bringing the online community in Harrisonburg and Rockingham together. Thanks to Thanh, Gxeremio, Joe, Kai, David, Emmy, TM, and everyone else who essentially donated their time and energy to contribute to the blog with their posts and comments.

Here’s to an even better 2008!
