Macworld, Apple’s annual conference and expo is currently underway in San Fransisco. I don’t know if it’s newsworthy, but I thought it was interesting that local Juan Alvarez, who owns Midnight Apps, a Mac shareware company, made it into two iPhone-related stories in the DNR, and he also appeared in a post in yesterday’s Wired’s Gadget Lab blog.

That’s great exposure for Midnight Apps. Mac Heist is a really good deal (note I sidestepped “steal” there) of some fun, useful software. Thanks for the links Brent, it’s good to highlight a local tech company getting some press in Wired.

I haven’t actually made it to any get-togethers yet, but there’s a Mac group in Harrisonburg http://mac.meetup.com/252/calendar/6736173/?a=cv1c_grp

And, because it’s snowing and of course you want even more Mac World coverage http://www.pixelcorps.tv/macbreak the Pixel Corps is doing bang-up job of covering the show floor.

I am excited by those Mac flash storage computers. The prospect of a lightweight, super thin portable computer with hours and hours of battery life excites me. A hand-held computa-phone….not so much.

Juan is featured in one of the MacBreak videos talking about MacHeist here http://www.pixelcorps.tv/macbreak115
