Port Growing Up?

posted by finnegan

In December, I posted something about the seven-story building to be constructed on Devon and Port.

There may be more tall buildings coming to that neighborhood.

Earlier today, WSVA reported:

At it’s February 13th meeting, the Harrisonburg Planning Commission will consider a special use permit request from the developers at Hunters Ridge, who are seeking permission to build two structures with 16 units in each, more than the 12 currently allowed. The plans also include two floors of underground parking.

City senior planner Adam Fletcher says he still hasn’t seen renderings of the proposed housing to determine how tall they will be. Depending on how many stories the buildings are, a second special use permit may be required.

Sounds like Port will be growing up sooner than later.

This sounds like it might be a decent place…from the Hunters Ridge developers…which is one of the worst apartment complexes for students…this should be interesting.

This passed Harrisonburg Planning Commission unanimously. City Council will hear it next month.

Thanks for the update, TM.

I’m guessing it will be approved.
