minor repairs

Readers who still use Internet Explorer (switch to Mozilla Firefox) tell me the formatting is all screwed up. Please bear with me as I upgrade and fiddle with the code to try to fix these issues.

Just from looking at it briefly, I’d say it has something to do with the fact that the “extras” div is 140 in width and the Twitter div within it is 150 in width.

I just checked it using IE (the bane of WordPress), and it appears to be OK now. Readers: please let me know how it looks in your browsers. I have yet to check it on Safari.

I upgraded from Andreas01 1.5 to 1.7

Those sidebars are pitifully thin. Laura, I may soon enlist your help to upgrade hburgnews and take it in a direction closer to cvillenews.com.

I want a sideblog.

It appears that if you attempt to post with more than 1 link that your post is “hidden”. The post does not appear, yet, wordpress says you’re posting the same thing twice if you attempt to repost.

Brent, the issues we discussed on Friday are fixed. Thanks. When did IE become a bad thing? I admit to having trouble keeping up with the latest Net cool. Heck, someone just told me Netscape was gone! Is it?

Sorry, IE is evil!! You’ve got to switch! Netscape is still around, but very few use it.

Emmy, pop over next week and help me switch and I will. I am determined to remain cool, even at my advancing age!

IE became a bad thing in 2004 when Firefox first started to spread.

I actually think Safari for Windows does the best job with blogs, the problem is that it does a terrible job with everything else.

I can do that, but it isn’t hard. Brent provided the link, just download and enjoy!

I find it nearly impossible to only use one browser these days.

IE 7 was a massive disappointment. IE 8 sounds promising, but lots of things coming from Redmond SOUND good.

Firefox has now reached a comparable number of users depending on the target audience. I have been using the Firefox 3 beta for awhile and have been pretty disappointed but that is beta.

Safari for Windows I have no experience with, but Opera is a great browser for a lot of uses.

Myself I have everything but Safari installed and use each browser for different purposes.

IE 7 was a big disappointment. I usually just use Firefox, but I have the IE tab extension for things that won’t load properly in Firefox.

As a web software developer, I get pissed off at IE7 all the time. Usually you have to find some kind of generic middle ground and basically make the code dumber so that all of the browsers know what it’s doing.

I haven’t worked with them, but I’ve heard even worse things about Microsoft’s web servers.
