[new] Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition

Thanh -- March 13th, 2008

The Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Club (SVBC) and Shenandoah Mountain Bike Club (SMBC) have merged this year to become the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBCoalition). SVBCoaltion is made up of the same good people from the other two clubs, but now they’ve joined forces to focus on all aspects of cycling, events, trail work, and advocacy. Their new website is svbcoalition.org (I’ve been told that the site is still in development, but there’s a lot of good information there already).

This brochure describes some of things that their members do: new trail construction as well as maintenance of existing ones, monthly meetings, weekly bike rides of various kinds practically every day, sponsor and organize events, and a lot of advocacy work.

My personal experience with them is that their members have very open arms and are always encouraging of individuals and people wanting to join them for activities. If you really want to get on a bike and ride with people, even if you’re not a member of the SVBCoailtion (yet :oP) you should should just show up for one of the rides that interest you and give it a try. They’ll be happy to have you, and you’ll learn some really good riding tips. Happy riding.

I tried to register on svbcoalition.org but with no luck. It’s a little complicated, wanting to know server stuff et al.

I’m trying to plan a road bike vacation in September to the Shenandoah Valley for myself and several friends. We’re hoping to get in 3 days of riding . I’m trying to find rides (cue sheets) for this area so I can pin down a vacation rental location.

    I’d appreciate any help.

    Call Shenandoah Bicycle
    They’ll help you out.

Tony A.: Regarding svbcoalition.org registration, you only need to fill out the lines that are marked with an asterisk. As JW says, give SBC (www.shenandoahbicycle.com) a call and they can answer all your questions.
