Neal Pleads Guilty

Posted by Brent Finnegan on May 9th, 2008

Today former City Treasurer Becky Neal plead guilty to misuse of public funds. She’ll serve two years probation, and pay $950 in restitution and fines (not including legal fees). As part of the agreement reached with the prosecutors, the CA is dropping 19 other charges against her.

I think you should add, “In a deal with the Commonwealth’s Attorney” and remove “at least”.

Gx, great points…see if this makes more sense…

Not a bad deal, we as taxpayers had to pay for the hours of investigation, all the police work and everything and Becky only has to repay $950…maybe we should charge Marsha with misappropriation of taxpayer funds…

It seems time to move on, with Thanks! to Judge Lane for the prompt ruling, to the Petition drive folks and to June’s assistant being appointed Neal’s replacement. Dragging this case through court would have cost taxpayers too much; the goal is restoration of the honest Treasurer’s office.

Marsha was taking her foot off Becky’s throat…which is what you guys wanted.

I think Mrs. Neal can be rehabilitated…..

I said that tongue-in-cheek Christa. It is obvious she doesn’t “need” jailtime…and she is obviously not a danger to society.

  7. Christa says:

Guess not when her restitution was $20.00 in interest and $150.00 in bad check fees. Doesn’t sound to me like she misappropriated $91,000. What’s wrong with this picture?

  8. Christa says:

Who’s your next target? JM? Ted?

  9. republitarian says:

    I don’t target people, Christa….

    I target issues.

  10. Christa says:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  11. Josh says:

If you “borrow” $91k for just a day or so, the interest fees would just be a few dollars. I don’t see how anything is wrong with this picture…

    I’m glad this is over!

  12. JGFitzgerald says:

    Josh,

Think of it this way: how much can you borrow from the city treasury?
