Harrisonburg names new assistant city manager

Friday the City of Harrisonburg announced that Evan Vass will take office in July as new assistant city manager. Vass has most recently served as the town manager for New Market and has also held government positions for the Town of Bridgewater including assistant public works director and interim director of public works.
Vass holds a Bachelors Degree in Public Administration from James Madison University and will complete a Masters Degree in the same field in the fall.
In a released statement, city manager Kurt Hodgen said, “Evan brings great energy, enthusiasm and solid town management experience to our team and we look forward to working with him.”
Vass will begin on July 14 at a salary of $80,000.
I’ve worked with Mr. Vass in several negotiations in a classroom setting and he is very professional and level-headed.
He will have the best interest of Harrisonburg in mind in his new position.
