Obama’s Harrisonburg office

Brent Finnegan -- July 17th, 2008

A few days ago, I wrote about McCain taking out ads in the Harrisonburg market. Yesterday, Talking Points Memo reported the Obama campaign is opening 20 new field offices in Virginia, one of which is in Harrisonburg.

The Obama team is setting up shop in Winchester and Bristol, both of which are in areas that voted for Bush in 2004 by at least 25 points. Camp Obama is also adding an office in Harrisonburg, which went for Bush by 13 and is in the reliably-red Shenandoah Valley.

The office will be officially opening this Saturday. It’s located downtown at 124 S. Main Street (across the street from Dave’s Taverna). There will be an open house at 2:00 and a reception at 3:00 Saturday afternoon. From the official website: “10am – 2pm Open House 2pm – 3pm Reception.”

Thanks to David Troyer for pointing out the TPM story to me.

I’ve had a good vantage point to watch the move in since my office is directly above them. The progress has been very impressive. Saturday’s open house should be pretty impressive.

I have to say, whether you agree with the politics or not, the new office is doing a great job of improving the block, along with Larkin Studio’s newest creation. I was starting to worry about what would happen after La De Da moved.

The times listed here are incorrect. The open house is 12-2 and the reception is at 2. They are really wanting most people to show up at 2 for the reception. Nothing is planned at 3.

Then Mr. Obama needs to fix what it says on his website.

I like to think of him as his own webmaster.

The website is right, its just the way they have it written that’s a little weird, which is why your wording above is also a little weird.

Deb and I have a few dozen Obama yard signs to give away. First come, first serve. RSVP.

Please call or email, as opposed to posting a request here.
