I’m in constant refresh mode and I’m about ready to throw up. I’m not kidding.
Looking at CNN, Rasoul (by 1%), Warner (by 35%), and Obama (by 7%) are winning in Harrisonburg with 33% of the Harrisonburg precincts in.
Everything I saw and all my sources today lead me to believe the Dems did very well in Harrisonburg today. I’m not predicting, but wouldn’t be surprised if Dems sweep City Council.
I’d be extremely surprised.
How red was my Valley? Very. SBE is currently showing Gilmore winning in the county.
I’m eating Tums enough for both me and Emmy. This can’t be over soon enough.
All the Democrats on the federal level are doing even better in the city with 67% of the city precinicts in, according to CNN.
Gilmore winning? What a supreme testament to the extraordinary ignorance of appalachia. The county needs to conduct retirement advertisement in the north to recruit good, intelligent people who actually contribute to society.
Kai leads huge! Sims is the only one reporting.
More precincts reporting: Kai and Baugh still one and two; Chenault third, but third keeps changing on us.
Obama wins PA!
Kai still in the lead with two precincts reporting.
Fingers crossed for Kai.
Wow, I can’t imagine how I’ll feel if the majority of the candidates I voted for win! Warner is one down.
From Waterman:
Degner 1156
Wiens 1136
Baugh 983
Chenault 902
I think it’s safe to call this one for Kai at least.
I’m updating constantly on Twitter (paix120) – doesn’t show up here in the sidebar very fast, tho! Looks good for Kai, Baugh, Wiends, and Rasoul in Harrisonburg precincts.
Obama catching up in VA, but McCain still ahead at 51.5% with about almost 40% of the votes in…
With 33% of Hburg precincts, Shafer is killing the other two for treasurer.
I’m glad to see that Breslau because I was worried people would go party on that one. Yay for Jeff and Kai!
Bad omen for the GOP? E. Dole loses Senate seat!
I’m actually really surprised that Imeson isn’t winning because 1) I’ve seen so many signs for her, 2) she’s considered a very local and familiar face, and 3) she’s a Republican, which doesn’t hurt around here, though that last one is changing, as we’ve seen.
I totally thought she’d get it.
50% of Hburg precincts in
Degner, Baugh, and Chenault are 1,2,3
Wiens and Eagle are 4 and 5
Shafer still making a killin’. Ney is narrowly in second.
Lynchburg w/ half votes in has Obama in the lead! Wha?? That’s a good sign for him, considering all of the Liberty students that were registered there.
I wouldn’t be that excited about it yet. It was at first really strong for Obama, but his percentage has gone way down. CNN might as well have called Virginia for McCain.
…I mean, if that’s how early we’re going to get excited over stuff. But you never even said that Obama will win Lburg, so I’ll just shut up about it.
Area results as of 9:20pm:
Augusta County – 70-30 for McCain
Rockingham County – 68-30 for McCain
Harrisonburg City – 54-44 for Obama
Staunton City – 49-49 tie
Waynesboro City – 54-44 for McCain
Same council stuff as before, but Chenault is beating Wiens by 6 votes with 66% of precincts in.
Virtually a tie in Virginia with 70% of the votes reported! The suspense builds!
Ney is gaining ground and is only 4% behind Shafer now.
Wow, Charlottesville went 78% Obama with 100% reporting.
VIRGINIA TIED IN PRESIDENTIAL
Obama ahead by 17% now in Hburg, though still with 66% reporting.
Degner, Baugh, Chenault in the lead, with Wiens only 5 votes behind Chenault! 67% reporting.
Warner ahead by 41% now and Rasoul ahead by 8% in Hburg, both still with 66% in.
Virginia now has 78% of the precincts in and is still tied!!
Proof positive as to the positive influence of UVA. Educated people vote correctly. There are very few Republitarians and Briggmans in that good city.
Looks like Warner is giving acceptance speech on CBS.
With 100% in, RoCo votes only 5 percent points lower for the Republican presidential candidate than in 2004.
OBAMA LEADS IN VIRGINIA
RoCo one of four counties in the state (plus one independent city: Colonial Heights) that votes for Gilmore.
NEVERMIND. PRESIDENTIAL IS TIED AGAIN. I SHOULD STOP DOING ALL CAPS POSTS WHENEVER THE PRESIDENTIAL CHANGES BECAUSE IT IS LIKELY TO CHANGE CONSTANTLY WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE HOURS.
Breslau – haha you’re funny
I see another precinct just came in in Harrisonburg…. brb
Harrisonburg – Obama 57.3%
Harrisonburg – Warner 68.8%
Harrisonburg – Rasoul 52.3%
Harrisonburg – Shafer 40%
Harrisonburg – Degner 19.2%, Baugh 16%, Wiens 14.5%, Chenault 13.8%

According to CNN:
FINAL PRESIDENTIAL TALLY FOR HARRISONBURG: OBAMA 57% MCCAIN 42%
FINAL SENATE: WARNER 66% GILMORE 32%
FINAL HOUSE: RASOUL 52% GOODLATTE 45%
I wish we could see the actual percentages on the county meals tax. The only reports given in the link about is “Yes – 100%”.
