The DNR reported that there is a $2.6 billion shortfall in VDOT’s statewide budget. In our region, the Luray office, which serves Page County, is slated to close, as is the Vernoa Office which serves Augusta County. and Edinburg’s office, which serves Shenandoah County, will experience some changes. It is planned for the Harrisonburg Residency to manage VDOT affairs in Harrisonburg, Augusta, and Page Counties. Additionally, rest areas on I-81 are also slated to close.
There have been several opinions posted in the DNR regarding the budget shortfalls and proposed reductions.
