Harrisonburg EcoMinds Listserve
Thanh -- March 12th, 2009
A new listserve has been formed called “Harrisonburg EcoMinds.” This listserve began after a meeting Beth Schermerhorn and friends hosted in February called “Meeting of the eco-minds.”
The meeting/potluck flyer read: “Meeting of the eco-minds of Harrisonburg… a time to make new friends and talk about the direction of Harrisonburg environmental activism.” The flyer pictures things representing “local foods”, ”bicycles” and “community.” A lot of people were present at the February meeting. Some community groups represented included JMU EARTH Club, Blue Ridge Permaculture, Sierra Club, Climate Action Alliance of the Valley, and Everyday Bikes!. Mayor Kai Degner and many other interested people (including myself) were also there.
Anyone can join the listserve to post information about their own organization’s events, projects, and programs, open dialogue and conversation, and keep up to date on all things Green in Harrisonburg. Go here to join.

Way to go Beth and Thanh! Thanks, looking forward to the posts, the community and the developments.
Please, thank Beth and her friends (who I apologize to for not knowing who exactly to name) for initiating conversation with with their potluck and to Beth for thinking to collect everyone’s contact information to get the listserve started!
I’m just trying to help spread the word. :)
Ha! I keep feeling like I’m getting a lot of credit for doing something very small… it is all of us who should be thanked for being great community members!
I’d like to invite anyone who is interested to our next event: Monthly Eco-Brews, March 25 @ 5pm at the Little grill Collective. We’ll just be hanging out, drinking a brew (possibly dinner) and then hopefully heading over to Clementine’s for the Hburg backyard Chicken Project fundraiser at 8pm.
