Landes, Marrow Lock Horns Over Jobs

Brent Finnegan -- September 25th, 2009

Last night’s 25th District debate between Del. Steve Landes and challenger Greg Marrow got a little more heated than a Valley voter might have expected. The touchy subject: job creation.

At the top of the debate, the moderator asked Landes about his Soviet/Nazi comment, which was picked up by the Washington Post blog.

But that didn’t turn out to be the hot button issue of the night. When Marrow repeatedly questioned Landes’ commitment to job creation in the Valley, Landes walked across the stage and and handed Marrow his voting record. The DNR, The News Leader, and The News Virginian all paint a tense picture of the exchange toward the end of the debate, in which Landes repeatedly had to defend his voting record.

NBC29 streamed the debate in its entirety:

Things start to heat up around 55:35, when Marrow challenges Landes’ voting record, and Landes in turn questions what Marrow has done to warrant serving as delegate.
