In “Recovery”
Brent Finnegan -- October 19th, 2009
Your unemployed and underemployed friends will be so relieved to know that Harrisonburg’ economy is in “recovery.” According to MSNBC and Moody’s economy.com, local employment growth ranks 25 (first quintile) out of 392 (story via WSVA).

Yes, unemployment is up and will be slow to recover, everywhere, not just around here. However, it is also true that Harrisonburg never got it as bad as most other areas (check our unemployment rate noticeably below national average), and we are now doing better than most other places, even if it may not feel all that great. The story is correct, and that it does not feel all that great here is just a reminder of how bad it is in so many other places.
The thing about recessions is that they always end.
Are you being sarcastic or not, Brent?
I can’t tell.
When in doubt, I’m probably being sarcastic. I should start using the /sarcasm tag.
But the professor is right, if it’s this bad here, it’s likely worse in other places.
