AT&T rolls out 3G in Harrisonburg
Brent Finnegan -- November 12th, 2009
iPhone users can rejoice. As of today, AT&T has 3G network coverage in the city and parts of Rockingham County. There has already been some buzz about it on Twitter this morning. From the official release:
AT&T today announced the availability of its third generation (3G) mobile broadband network in Harrisonburg, opening the door to a new era of mobile services, devices and feature-rich audio and video content for customers in Harrisonburg, Massanetta Springs, the Massanutten Ski resort, [Bridgewater] and Hinton.

3G in Hinton, no less!
now if we can just get some damned fios around here
Sweet! Can’t wait for my current cell phone contract with another carrier to expire in mid-December.
My reception has actually decreased as a result of the switch and I am not satisfied with it. I can barely talk on the phone in my own home as I get either one or no bars so it’s constantly breaking up or dropping calls. 3G not such a great thing.
Not an endorsement, but Verizon Wireless has had 3G into these areas for years.
Right you are, Bubby. I just remembered this hburgnews post from March of last year.
Too late. Just switched to Verizon and the Droid. Couldn’t deal with the Edge network and shoddy coverage in the valley any longer.
