Police Seek Bank Robbery Suspect

Jeremy Aldrich -- December 1st, 2009

From the HPD: Around 4:30 p.m. HPD responded to 1300 S. Main Street for the report of a bank robbery at SunTrust bank. The suspect also left a package and claimed it had an explosive device in it.

The suspect is described as a white male approximately 40-50 years of age, clean shaven, with light or gray colored hair. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored long-sleeved shirt, an undershirt, blue jeans, and a belt.

All employees were able to exit the bank safely and no one was injured during the incident.

HPD’s Criminal Investigations Division is investigating this incident and continues to collect information. The Virginia State Police Bomb Squad Team is also assisting with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 574-5050, an anonymous tip line.

Please be aware that Main Street is closed from South Avenue to Port Republic Road. Motorists are urged to use other routes and avoid the area.

Police have named a suspect: 50-year-old Gary Ross Latray of Syracuse, New York. HPD says he has been involved in other robberies in Pennyslvania, Ohio, and Maryland and say that he got away from the SunTrust robbery with an undisclosed amount of money.

Latray was last seen in a stolen 4-door Hyundai with New York license plate EVF-2221.

hmm, I see how this works.
everyday working man robs a bank, its a “crime” and a “community” news blog sees fit to help the police find this “criminal”.
on the other hand the banks steal more then a TRILLION dollars from the most vulnerable parts of the community, yet oddly swat teams do not bust down the doors of these “honest” citizen, seems fair to me.
