Live Christmas Tree Disposal
Thanh -- December 29th, 2009
The City of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County will be offering the following options for disposing of LIVE CHRISTMAS TREES:
Harrisonburg City residents have three options:
- City trucks will be picking up trees curbside Jan. 4 – Jan. 8. Please have trees out by 7 AM on Monday Jan. 4 for collection that week.
- Trees may be dropped off at the Municipal Building lot on Saturday, Jan. 9 from 8 AM to 2 PM. Trees will be chipped on site, and the chips will be offered free to residents who provide their own container on a first come, first serve basis.
- After Jan. 9, residents may place their trees curbside on their regularly scheduled bulk collection day.
Rockingham County residents may drop off Christmas trees and Christmas wreaths at one of six (6) collection sites through January 31, 2010.
Please remove tinsel and decorations from the Christmas trees before disposing of them.
Call Harrisonburg Public Works at 540-434-5928 or Rockingham County Public Works at 540-564-3000 for more information.
If hburgnews readers know of other options, please post them below in the comments.

Thanks, Thanh, for the xmas tree info. I love the idea of a common gathering place and having the option to take back chipped trees at the same time!
And thanks to all the HburgNews writers for maintaining this site. We appreciate it !!!
