Wilt Running for Delegate

The Daily News-Record reports that Tony Wilt of Broadway “will formally announce his candidacy for the special election for the 26th House District today.” Wilt would be running for the Republican nomination.

Last week, Del. Matt Lohr announced he would vacate his seat to become Commissioner of VDACS. Gov. Bob McDonnell is expected to announce a special election date within the next few weeks.

    Republican Tony Wilt, from Rockingham County, says he would like to take Matt Lohr’s seat, in the 26th district. Lohr is leaving the seat next month, to take a job as Virginia’s commissioner of agriculture. Wilt is the president of Superior Concrete and has served as the president of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce.
