Another Milestone for Food Co-op

Lindsay -- April 5th, 2010

The Friendly City Food Co-op announced on Facebook this morning that they have recently received another $100,000 in member loans, putting them at 75% of their community-financing goal, and prompting the board to sign the lease this month.  As previously announced, the lease is for 150 E. Wolfe Street, or “the old Mick-or-Mack downtown” to longtime Hburgers.  However, this lease will be contingent upon some serious additional fund raising in a very short period of time.

The lease carries a contingency: THE MEMBER LOAN CAMPAIGN MUST BE COMPLETED IN 30 DAYS, or we forfeit the lease and deposit. That means we must raise the final $294K in ONE MONTH. We believe it can be done, and momentum is high, but it depends on YOU, dear members (and interested non-members)!

Full disclosure:  Although not involved in the member loan campaign, I am a member-owner of one share in the Co-op.
