Invitation to Police Memorial Week Flag-raising
Press release from the HPD:
The Harrisonburg Police Department, the Harrisonburg Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police, and other law enforcement agencies will honor [on May 10th] those officers, who lost their lives while in the line of duty.
Every year in May, National Police Week is recognized around the nation. National Police Week was established in 1962 by a joint resolution of Congress to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty and their surviving families and recognize entire law enforcement community.
On Monday, May 10, at 9 a.m. law enforcement officers will gather in front of the Public Safety Building, 101 N. Main St. for a flag-raising ceremony, conducted by HPD’s Honor Guard.
The community is invited at this time to honor those officers, who gave the ultimate sacrifice and to thank all members of the law enforcement family.
