Glen Lapp, an EMU alum (’91) working in Afghanistan, is one of 10 humanitarian medical workers killed in a shooting incident in the northeastern Badakhshan province Thursday, August 5.

Harrisonburg Police Bust Three For Prostitution

The Harrisonburg Police Department announced Tuesday morning that three people have been arrested for their involvement in prostitution in the city. From the HPD release: On Friday, July 30, HPD conducted a search warrant after receiving information that individuals were participating in prostitution at a residence in the 900 block of North Liberty Street.

Del. Todd Gilbert fanned the flames of a debate over farmer’s rights and water quality at a Young Farmers expo in Woodstock this past weekend. The Republican delegate from Virginia’s 15th House district criticized legislators’ and regulators’ efforts to reduce farm runoff (animal manure) from the barn to the Bay.
