Performing Arts Center Announces Community Open Houses

JMU’s new Forbes Center for the Performing Arts is hosting free open house tours and events for the Harrisonburg community on Sunday, Sept. 26, from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

From a JMU press release:

Open house highlights include tours of the center’s five performance spaces every 15 minutes, as well as mini performances and educational workshops in the venues every half hour.

Guests can attend a mini dance performance and discussion on choreography; experience a JMU Brass Band mini concert and talk; see a musical review and learn about the magic of musical theater; enjoy a piano recital and learn about the design and construction of Steinway pianos; learn about theatrical design and construction; and learn about costumes through the ages. “James Madison” will make a special appearance and attendees can sign up to win free tickets to upcoming Forbes Center performances.
