Local Mushroom Vendor Could Be PETA’s ‘Sexiest Vegetarian Over 50’

Lindsay -- December 1st, 2010

Harrisonburg Farmer’s Market mushroom vendor and Linville resident, Orv Lehman, has been named as a finalist in PETA’s “Sexiest Vegetarian Over 50 Contest.”  According to a press release from PETA, the organization received hundreds of entries nationwide for the over-50 category.  PETA selected 10 men, including Lehman, and 10 women to be finalists.

From the PETA press release:

Lehman has been a vegetarian for 15 years and a vegan for 8 years. He enjoys the many health benefits of a meatless diet and grows his own shiitake mushrooms, which he sells at a local farmers market and uses as a topping on homemade vegan pizza. Lehman loves hiking and bird-watching and says that he chose a vegan lifestyle for animals, the environment, and his health.

Winners will be determined by online voting on PETA’s website.  Voting ends on December 6, and PETA will announce one male and one female winner on December 10.  Noted in the press release, “Each winner will receive a five-night experience at Laguna Lodge, a luxury vegetarian eco-resort in Guatemala.”
