The Harrisonburg Fire Department is announcing a new “Adopt-A-Hydrant” program for Harrisonburg citizens. Last year the numerous snow storms kept firefighters busy shoveling snow for days. Hydrants were buried under the piles of snow and would have taken precious minutes to locate in the event of a fire.

Harrisonburg Farmer’s Market mushroom vendor and Linville resident, Orv Lehman, has been named as a finalist in PETA’s “Sexiest Vegetarian Over 50 Contest.”  According to a press release from PETA, the organization received hundreds of entries nationwide for the over-50 category.  PETA selected 10 men, including Lehman, and 10 women to be finalists.
