HPD Search For Missing Harrisonburg Man

Press Release -- March 5th, 2011

The Harrisonburg Police Department is asking for help from the community.

Police are currently looking for a man, whose family has not heard from him since Thursday morning.

Arthur Gregory Brown, 50, of Harrisonburg is described as a white male, six feet three inches tall, approximately 230 pounds, green eyes, and grey hair. He also has a small scar on the left side, near his hairline.

Mr. Brown was last known to be in his vehicle, which is a grey 2007 four-door Honda Accord with Virginia tags SO4CHN8.

HPD believes Mr. Brown was last in the company of Ali Abid, 49, of Weyers Cave and police have not been able to contact either individual throughout the investigation.

The disappearance of Mr. Brown is suspicious and he could possibly be in Weyers Cave, Harrisonburg, or in the area of Dulles Airport.

Anyone with information is asked to call HPD’s non-emergency call for service number at 540-434-4436 or Crime Solvers at 540-574-5050.

  7. Derek Schoonmaker says:

I heard a rumour from a reasonably reliable source that “Greg Brown” is a local Private Investigator and subsequently discovered that he owns Argus Investigations, licensed by the state.
I heard another rumour from another source that the FBI is looking into this case and that the local Sheriff’s Department was “being kept out of it” for reasons that were not explained. Yet another source “indicated” that the individual known as “Ali Abid, 49, of Weyers Cave” may have somehow caused Mr. Brown’s disappearance.
All of this sounds “suspicious”; however, I would strongly suggest that there might be several reasons why Mr. Brown has not been heard from, and that Ali Abid may not necessarily be involved.
Now, if it’s true that the FBI has been involved from the beginning, it may be possible that they were keeping an eye on Mr. Abid for their own reasons. That suggests, rather offhandedly, that FBI may know where Mr. Brown is at present but do not wish to reveal that fact to the public because, as another source has indicated, FBI is keeping an eye on the situation and will rescue Mr. Brown “at just the right moment.”
This is beginning to sound like a TV show.
However, the idea that FBI would not share their info with HPD borders on the patently ridiculous.
Let us be patient and wait to see what transpires in all of this.
Best Wishes to the Apprehensives and the Family

“I would strongly suggest that there might be several reasons why Mr. Brown has not been heard from, and that Ali Abid may not necessarily be involved.” Dear Writer, I appreciate your input but you are wrong. As an immediate family member with “sources” of my own I think Ali Abid does know what has happened. Thank you for asking for patience. Please join in the search.
