Cool-Aid 2011
Press Release -- April 6th, 2011
WXJM 88.7 FM, James Madison University’s on-campus radio station, will be holding its annual charity event, Cool-Aid at Court Square Theater, in Harrisonburg on April 13, at 8 PM for $8.
This years selected performers are The Books, Pictureplane, and Bib-bi.
THE BOOKS formed in 2000 creating acoustic music blended with samples and other electronic sounds. Their 2002 record, Thought for Food was critically acclaimed for its thoughtful, experimental approach to the acoustic genre. Fast forward to 2010, The Books have released their first record in five years, The Way Out, which brings their art into new sonic realms. Their live show relies heavily on video compositions that play concurrent to the live performances. Heading out on a two week tour, We are excited to have The Books bring their multimedia experience to Harrisonburg’s own Court Square Theater.
All money from this event will be donated to the First Step House, a center for domestic violence in Harrisonburg. At WXJM, we feel that domestic abuse is an issue that is often overlooked and we feel that the donations received from this show could make a difference in a person’s life. We hope to raise as much money as possible and we ask that you attend to help us achieve this goal.
