Should treasurers be elected?
Here’s another part of our Q&A series with City Treasurer candidates:
At least one candidate running for City Council has discussed the possibility of changing the office of treasurer from an elected position to one that serves under the authority of City Council. Is that a good or bad idea?

Rasoul, Goodlatte & Allen Q&A
I’ve been so focused on city races that I haven’t had time to write much about the congressional race. Luckily, WMRA has already done a Q&A with all three 6th district candidates on the ballot: Sam Rasoul, Bob Goodlatte, and Janice Lee Allen. They’re short, and worth a listen.

Obama in Harrisonburg - Updated
This has probably shown up on some other blogs already, so I apologize for the delay. Jeremy mentioned the rumor in another post, but Obama will in fact be in Harrisonburg on Tuesday the 28th. I spoke with some non-local campaign workers this afternoon and I’m expecting a call once everything is finalized. It appears [...]

The one name Wesley Clark never mentioned during his visit to Harrisonburg tonight: McCain. The alternative energy expert, economist, and retired four-star general instead spent his time criticizing Bush’s foreign and domestic policies, and pronouncing his faith in Obama.
Court Square Theater was packed to capacity (250+ supporters). Staff scrambled to find extra seating in [...]

Council Candidates on Annexation
Continuing the Q&A series with City Council candidates: Since Harrisonburg has a history of annexing to expand the city limits — the last one occurred in the 1980s — we asked,

Until now, Mark Warner has not been actively campaigning for Obama in the presidential race. But now that Obama has taken a lead in statewide polls, the former governor, who has been endorsed by several state Republicans, is directly endorsing Obama in radio ads. From the Washington Post blog:
