The Democrats are NEVER going to win the sixth District if they won't even field a candidate to challenge the spineless party hack Goodlatte. I object to the principle that says the party may sign away my right to representation of my choice, and to a party which is so spineless and irresponsible that it will not even OFFER me a choice. Republicans are bouind to win against lethargy.

I wish more of Rockingham's supervisors were equally concerned about the potential negative impacts on this section of the county. Water pollution can't be undone. Areas can be destroyed by these companies, and property owners left surrounded by an industrial, possibly toxic, mess. If Carrizo is allowed to drill one test well, they will just keep on going and ruin this beautiful area. How will the neighbors of these sites be compensated for the lost value of their own property? DMME needs to pull its head out of the sand, and the state legislature needs to think in terms of protecting its constituency. We elected these people, didn't we?

I had wondered about that, & had suspected that what you reported is the true situation. It just makes sense. They are coming to take, for their own economic benefit. They are not concerned about providing the community with jobs. They have their own people with experience & work history, & they go well to well. It is unfair to hold out employment like a carrot on a stick.

Only in third world poverty stricken societies do folks burn their valuable organic fertilizer for fuel. With the price of manufactured fertilizer rising at an alarming rate the litter will be consumed by farmers outside of the poultry concentrated area around Harrisonburg.

http://blog.alexanderhiggins.com/net2/Harrisonburg-VA-Real-Time-US-Radiation-Monitoring-Graph.aspx

This graph shows real time radiation monitoring for Harrisonburg. It has been very high since the nuclear melt-throughs in Japan. I never watched closely before that so maybe our radiation has always been high? Can anyone provide insight as to why our radiation is so high? Does anyone know who is doing the EPA monitoring? Many EPA sites have been down since 3/11 but ours has been consistently high. There is a reason our cancer rates are so high in this country. Stopping the radiation would seem a much more effective strategy than hosting a walk-a-thon.

Not really. Because it's something that we've all put a lot of time and effort into building, it would be hard to imagine just selling it to the highest bidder. It's worth more than money to me.
